The Illinois Department of Insurance and Get Covered Illinois will visit the library to provide information and answer questions on the Health Insurance Marketplace Open Enrollment Period. As part of the Get Covered Illinois 102 County Tour, staffers from the Illinois Department of Insurance will be onsite to provide consumers with information on signing up for health insurance through GetCovered.Illinois.gov. All members of the community are welcome to stop by. A booth will be set up in the library’s main lobby, near the Circulation desk. The Dekalb Public Library is joining a 21st-century community-building initiative inspired by Benjamin Franklin’s “club for mutual improvement,” launched more than 200 years ago. Ben Franklin Circles are dedicated to exploring one of the following virtues: Temperance, Silence, Order, Resolution, Frugality, Industry, Sincerity, Justice, Moderation, Cleanliness, Tranquility, Chastity, and Humility. This month we will be discussing order, of which Franklin’s definition is “Let all your things have their places. Let each part of your business have its time.” This program is FREE and intended for teenagers. Snacks will be provided. No registration is necessary. Are you new to computers and having trouble performing basic tasks? The Files and Folders class will include time to practice saving and finding your files onto a computer and a flash drive. It also includes time to practice making a computer file folder and moving files around. This class is FREE and open to all. Laptop computers will be provided for use in class. The Committee is made up of engineering and technical staff of the member organizations and Transit and Educational organizations.
