[ARCHIVED] City of DeKalb Public Transit System to Remain Fare Free Through 2021

important-information-

At the Monday, July 12 City Council meeting, Council directed staff to maintain fare free public transit through December 31, 2021.  The City's transit system has operated fare free since March 2020 as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.  All fixed route buses, with the exception of the Route 12 that operates to/from the Elburn Metra Station, will remain free for the public through the end of the year.  Paratransit services, including Non-Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT), will also remain fare free.

The DeKalb City Council will revisit the public transit fare topic later this year to determine how to proceed in 2022.

If you have questions regarding the City of DeKalb's suspension of public transit fares, please contact the City's Transit Manager at 815-748-2370.
