What can I do about barking dogs in my neighborhood?
You may call the non-emergency number, 815-748-8400, to report any dog that barks, growls, howls, or whines in a loud manner in such a manner that it is disturbing the peace. It is common for the dog’s owner to be first warned. Should the dog continue to disturb the peace, you may sign a complaint against the dog’s owner. The dog’s owner will then be required to appear in court. If the dog’s owner is found guilty, a fine of not less than $50 and no more than $300 could be set.
