Public safety officials in DeKalb are excited to announce that a new alert and notification system provided by the Smart911 platform is now available to all residents. ALERT DeKalb is a free service that allows individuals to sign up for notifications sent from state and local authorities.
ALERT DeKalb keeps residents and travelers informed on potentially hazardous situations involving weather, traffic and other emergencies.

Residents can sign up to receive alerts by visiting

Residents can also send tips to ALERT DeKalb by texting “67283.” The text message must begin with “AlertDeKalb.” The text will alert the DeKalb Police Department and a telecommunicator can respond to your text. Residents have the ability to remain anonymous while reporting criminal or suspicious activity, quality of life concerns, and any requests for services.
Residents who currently utilize a "spam blocker" for unwanted phone calls will find that alerts from ALERT DeKalb are blocked. To work around this, residents will need to contact their spam block provider and authorize the following number to call their phone: 815/748-8400.
