Did you know DeKalb has been named a Semi-finalist in the America’s Best Community competition being sponsored by Frontier Communication? We were first chosen as one of the 50 quarter-finalists, and were awarded $50,000 to prepare an Economic Development Plan. The Plan identified seven game changing projects to build DeKalb’s economy, centered around developing leadership, entrepreneurship and business development, as well as positive marketing of all the assets DeKalb offers. As one of the 15 remaining Semi-Finalists we will compete in Durham North Carolina to make to the final round. Regardless, the ever growing work team intends to continue on, creating a durable economic development plan to strengthen our sense of place, community pride, and local economy.
