[ARCHIVED] Public Works Flushing Hydrants

A hydrant is flushed.

The City of DeKalb Water Division will be flushing dead-end hydrants citywide starting next Monday March 15th , 2021 and thereafter to the end of the month.

Flushing will take place between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.

Flushing will remove iron and other minerals that have accumulated inside the water mains and help improve the overall quality of the water.

Residents may experience rusty colored water during this time.  If you experience rusty water, please wait until flushing has subsided, then run the cold-water tap until it runs clear.  Although the water is safe, it may stain laundered clothing.  Please refrain from doing laundry during this time.

If you have any further questions, please call the Water Division at 815-748-2050.
