[ARCHIVED] Sustainability Plan Focus of Upcoming Public Forum

The DeKalb Citizens’ Environmental Commission will hold a public forum on February 24 at 7:00 PM in the Yusunas Meeting Room in the DeKalb Public Library. This meeting is to discuss the City’s sustainability plan, both to see the successes of the past several years and to get public input on the direction of the Commission’s work for the future.

The original sustainability plan was put in place in 2014 and included a number of goals for the Commission to help address the environmental and climate-related issues of DeKalb. Since that time, the Commission has made a number of advances for the City, and has advised the City Council on multiple environmental concerns.

While the current sustainability plan has many objectives yet to be met, the circumstances of DeKalb’s climate have changed. An update to the plan, one with an eye toward climate change and climate justice, is needed. This presentation hopes to start addressing those needs with input from the DeKalb community.

DeKalb citizens are invited to come to hear what the Commission has accomplished, offer feedback, and suggest new goals for the Commission to undertake in the years ahead.
