[ARCHIVED] Juneteenth Celebrations

Community members have planned events to celebrate the Juneteenth holiday.

The third annual Juneteenth Community Celebration will be held in Hopkins Park on Sunday, June 18 from noon to 4 p.m. There will be activities, free food, Black trivia, music and dancing, Black vendors, local social services, games and more. Additional information can be found here on the New Hope Missionary Baptist Church website.

A Juneteenth Block Party will be held on Monday, June 19 in downtown DeKalb. The event will be held on Third Street, north of Lincoln Highway, from noon to 7 p.m. and will celebrate the national holiday of Juneteenth, commemorating the emancipation of enslaved people.
