On Tuesday, April 20, from 7-8:30 pm, the Citizens’ Environmental Commission (CEC) will host an online presentation, Celebrate Butterflies: Native Habitat for the Backyard

Discover the beauty and benefits of creating your own backyard refuge for butterflies and other pollinators by preparing even a small section of sunny or shady area around homes, apartments, or even on balconies. Everyone who has access to a bit of air and sky can enjoy the beauty of Illinois wildflowers while helping to sustain pollinators.

Wonder where to start? General information will be provided on plant sources and soil preparation. Easy projects for everyone from the very young to the older gardener can bring both butterflies and smiles throughout the summer and fall.

The program will be available on Microsoft Teams via the city website. To access the link go to: https://www.cityofdekalb.com/306/Citizens-Environmental-Commission
